
With the desire to expand services to rural communities in the region of Huancavelica, FINCA Peru established an alliance with Freedom from Hunger. This relationship with Freedom From Hunger was integral in the preparation, initiation, and continuation of the project.
The project works in the rural areas of Huancavelica, situated on uneven, hilly terrain, with limited transportation and a decreasing population.
Before beginning FINCA Peru studied they local market, organized training and collaboration workshops, consulted with institutions specializing in rural credit, designed a new credit product better adapted to the needs of the rural population, This process was completed through a great effort on the part of the collaborators and all of the employees of FINCA Peru.

Later, after some arduous development work a business plan, contracts, and trainings with new collaborators had been completed. In October Project Wari began its operations.
To overcome the access difficulty in the rural areas Project Wari is managed from a regional office in Huancavelica, and to a large part the office in Ayachucho as well.
It order to improve the efficiency of the project, FINCA Peru hired a coordinator, who, with much enthusiasm, assumed the challenge of managing this new team of collaborators until they complete their mission.
Project Wari now includes 24 village banks and 450 associates..
