 With the arrival of the Spaniards to Peru, year 1532, and after the conquest of the Inka Empire, the Spaniards who remained to live in Cusco, according to their hierarchy, distributed ground and houses in the form of “shares”, the´re were beautiful large houses, and this one went to Marquess de Ballumbroso, built on the base of inkawalls, whole the house with its 2 floors, and it was used for living.
After this period, in century XVIII this house was acquired in mortgage by the nuns of the Monastery Carmelite Descalzas, who during their permanence made the large house more beautiful, with arcs and 2 fountains, everything in stone. Here they remained over more than a century. The large house resisted the earthquake of 1950 and, Mr. Leandro Perez Calcin and his wife, working by far effort and dedication managed to recover and maintain its beautiful structure (the working time took more than 6 years) and adapted it in which is now the Colonial Palace Hotel, at your service. |
