PROJECTS |
1.- Project with the Police of the District of Santiago, Cusco |
Before starting I would like to express my satisfaction, because this project is the proof that togather, public institutions, private organisations and civile servants we can build beautiful things. My thanks et congratulations to the family of Santiago, and a special greeting to capitan Doris Santos for making the progress of this project possible.
The principal objective of the program that aldea Yanapay has with the police of the district of Santiago in Cusco, is trying to give these youngsters and adolescents quality time while they are under custody of the police, making the work of the institution easier.
- Trying to occupy the young or adolescent (mentally, psychologically, spiritually) during the hours in which he's in the custody of the local police of Santiago .
- Meanwhile realising different activities, we try to abtain the previous objective, combined with the use of rules concerning order, cleanness and discipline. As well the rules established by the police, as the ones of this program.
- Because we are working with youngsters and adolescents with several personality problems, we try to individualise them by asking each and every one of them their name. Which is a permanent job because the faces keep changing constantly. This helps the youngster feel like an individual being, important. Which is not the same as feeling alone in the world because of lack of love.
- Obtaining every day that this program not only works, but continues to improve and perfectionalise itself, so that in the future it adapts to the best of programs organised by the police institute.

The Yanapay School |
This is the project that I was able to start, due to the money I had available. The Yanapay school is a place that has areas such as classrooms, a library, a game library (educational games), reading room, kitchen, and others, that are necessary for the development of the children and adolescents we work with.
We work with children from various public schools who come after class. In the Yanapay Village they do their homework, making use of the library and the materials that we have. They also receive another type of education based on the arts (theatre, music, painting, etc), as well as other topics that are important in today's world: world cultures and religions, ecology, sexuality, and reading.
The Village is also open to all types of cultural expression, for example. Meditation, massages, capoeira, circus arts, etc., since people from all over the world arrive at the Yanapay school and each one has something to give.
There is a phrase that is fundamental at the Yanpay school
“The most beautiful thing about teaching is being able to give opportunities”
This, with a strong dose of love, tolerance, and trust, to me seems to be a way to educate human beings who are free in themselves, with the ability to give.
The Yanapay school is one of the projects that has been up and running since June 2004. (The Yanapay school is completely free of charge)
